In
close proximity to Phuket lies another valued destination
- The Thainaan Restaurant
The
restaurant is designed and constructed with a blend
of two unique traditional Thai architectural designs
- the Thai Thasksin (Southern Thai) and the Thai
Lanna (Northern Thai), the kind of designs which
are increasingly rare in modern Thailand. The restuarant
hopes to contribute its part in preserving and showcasing
these two traditional building styles.
The construction
of this group of buildings took many years to complete,
and required the expertise and skills of several hundred
craftsmen. The end result is a work of art which displays
the natural beauty of the wood for all to see. The roofs
of the buildings have been crafted of more than 300,000
gold teak wood which required a long time to gather.
Also displayed in the restaurant is the petrified golden
teak beam which is over ten million years old.
